SLA Basel is an accredited examination institution for the fide test.
With the fide test you can have your knowledge of German tested. The fide test is recognized throughout Switzerland, e.g. for the naturalization. It was developed by order of the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM).
fide Test
The test tasks are at the levels A1 – B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). They relate to various everyday situations in Switzerland, e.g. at work, at the medical practice or at the town hall.
The fide test consists of an oral part (“Speaking and Listening”) and a written part (“Reading and Writing”). The oral part lasts 40 minutes and the written part lasts 60 minutes.

Registration for the fide Test
The registration for the exam is possible at any time. Please note the registration deadlines. The registration deadline is 20 days before the exam. The number of places available is limited.
You can register for the fide test directly with the online registration form or on-site at SLA Basel.
At the registration you can choose if you would like to take the complete fide test, only the written part or only the oral part.
Every person over 16 years of age can take the test. People with a disability can also take the fide test. Special rules apply to them, which are agreed upon with the examination institution and the Secretariat fide.
Cost
The complete test costs CHF 250.–. Only the oral part costs CHF 170.–. Only the written part costs CHF 120.–.
Test location
The exams take place at the SLA Basel examination center, at 2 Münchensteinerstrasse, in Basel.
Test results
You will receive the language passport (Sprachenpass) and the test results directly by mail approximately 4 weeks after the test. We cannot give you any information about the results over the telephone.
