Terms and conditions (effective from 02.01.2024)
TELC examination centre Swiss Language Academy (SLA Basel)
By registering for an exam,you accept the following terms and conditions of the examination centre SLA Basel. This registration is legally binding.
1. General information
The exam consists of a written and an oral part. It is also possible, however, to opt for only one part (written or oral) of the exam. The oral and written parts of TELC exams B1, B2 and C1 may also be taken on different dates, as long as these dates are not more than 14 days apart, according to the examination regulations of TELC Ltd. The exact time of the exam will be informed at the latest one week before the exam. With the registration for the exam, the candidate authorises their personal data to be forwarded to TELC Ltd. for the purpose of exam processing and certificate emission. Candidates must arrive on time for the exam. Should the candidate arrive late, SLA Basel has the right to exclude them from the exam. In order to attend the exam, a valid identity document (ID card or passport) is necessary. Candidates who fail to presenttheir identity document will not be allowed to sit the exam.
2. Resources
During the entire exam (both written and oral), no resources are allowed. These include, but are not limited to: pens, dictionaries, smartphones, smart watches and the like.
The following objects are allowed during the exam: writing utensils, e.g. a soft pencil, pencil sharpener and eraser, as well as one drink. All other objects will be locked away during the exam.
3. Payment and deregistration
After your registration for the exam,you will receive an invoice from us. This must be paid by the due date, as the timely payment of the exam fee is a condition for sitting the examination. The payment deadline specified on the invoice is binding.
This registration is binding and may generally not be cancelled. Should a registration be necessary, it must take place at the latest 16 days before the exam date. The deadlines for deregistration can be found on our website. At all events, a deregistration must take place in writing. The date of receipt at SLA Basel counts as the effective date. A verbal deregistration will not be taken into account. Failure to settle the invoice or to be present for the exam does not count as deregistration. In case of deregistration after the registration deadline or absence from the exam, 100% of the exam fee will be charged. On presentation of a sick note in case of serious illness, the exam fee may be reimbursed. In this case, SLA Basel will charge an administrative fee of CHF 80.-for levels A1–A2, CHF 120.-for levels B1 –B2 and CHF 180.-for level C1.
Upon non-appearance, the candidate will not receive a reimbursement.
4. Postponement and registration after the registration deadline
A postponement is only possible before the registration deadline. Please note the deadline dates on our website.
The examination centre SLA Basel reserves the right to postpone TELC exams should the number of candidates not meet the minimum required. A registration cannot be cancelled after the registration deadline.
5. Disclaimer
Regarding the exams organised by this examination centre, we reject any liability for occured damages. The candidates are therefore responsible for purchasing adequate insurance cover. We reject any liability for theft or loss of objects in the premises of SLA Basel. Parents are responsible for their children.
6. Court of jurisdiction
For all other matters, the regulations of the Swiss law shall apply. The court of jurisdiction is Basel.
