<\/p>\nWhat is the CAE? The abbreviation stands for Cambridge English: Advanced, which is a language exam that can be used to test English proficiency. The British examination board of the University of Cambridge conducts various English exams and certifies the level of language proficiency. The certificate certifies the C1 language level, which is the level just below C2. Proper preparation through a language course in Basel is the key to success.<\/p>\n

The competence areas of reading, writing, language use, listening comprehension and speaking are tested. The duration of the exam is approximately 4 hours and 40 minutes. To obtain the English C1 certificate, you must go through various test modules in the exam. The exam takes place predominantly on a PC in one of the certified test centres.<\/p>\n
In the reading section, you need to be able to answer various questions about texts and complete gap-fill texts. In the reading and language use exam unit, you have to write two texts as well as answer questions and complete gap-fill texts. Your command of grammar and vocabulary is tested. For listening comprehension, audio recordings are played and then various question types are asked. In the final speaking exam unit, you have to answer questions together with other participants. This part can take place on a different day.<\/p>\n
Depending on how many points you have scored in the individual sections, your performance will be divided into three levels. If you achieve grade A, you have already exceeded C1 and reached C2. It is also possible that the test is considered failed if too few points are scored.<\/p>\n
