Why you should learn Italian...

Learning Italian means learning a language that is the mother tongue of 59 million people and is becoming increasingly popular. Interest in Italian courses at universities around the world has risen by more than 20% in recent years. Why is there such a high level of interest? In this article, we aim to answer that question.

A language for poets

When we talk about poetic language, French usually comes to mind. However, we know that Italian musicality and pleasant rhythm make it unique. Language experts from Italy assume that this language possesses the warmth of Portuguese, the sharpness of Spanish and the sophistication of French.

Have you ever wondered why „Romeo and Juliet“, one of the world's greatest love stories, speaks not English, but Italian? This language has also clearly shaped and advanced the music and film industry in Italy.

Italy is the cradle of Western civilisation

If you are interested in art history, you will know that Italy is the cradle of Western civilisation. According to a recent UNESCO report, 60% of the world’s artistic heritage is of Italian origin. If you are interested in fields such as art history, literature, archaeology and philosophy, a knowledge of the Italian language opens up many opportunities for you.

An ideal business language

Italian

According to a survey by the consultancy firm KPMG, the „Made in Italy“ origin label is the best-known designation after the Coca-Cola and Visa brands. Brands such as Benetton, Gucci, Barilla, Ferrari, Armani and Manfrotto are known all over the world for their exceptional quality products.

Companies doing business with Italy also give priority to Italian-speaking staff. Today, more than 7,000 US companies operate in Italy. Furthermore, global brands such as General Electric, Citibank, IBM, ExxonMobil and Chrysler have their headquarters in Italy.
