General Terms and Conditions (valid from 02.01.2024)
telc examination centre Swiss Language Academy (SLA Basel)
By registering, you accept and agree to the following general terms and conditions of Swiss Language Academy.
- General
The exam consists of a written and an oral part. However, it is of course possible to take one part (written or oral) separately. The oral and written parts of the B1, B2 and C1 telc exams can be taken separately. According to the telc gGmbH examination regulations, there must be a maximum of 14 days between the two parts. The exact time of the exam will be announced at least one week before the exam. By registering for the exam, exam participants agree that their personal data may be forwarded to telc gGmbH for the purpose of processing the exam and issuing certificates. Exam participants must arrive on time for the exam. If exam participants are late, Swiss Language Academy has the right to exclude them from the exam. A valid ID (ID card, driving licence or passport) is required to take the exam. If exam participants forget their ID, they will not be admitted to the exam.
2. Tools
No aids are permitted during the entire examination (both written and oral). These include, among other things, pens, dictionaries, smartphones, smart watches and similar devices.
The following items are permitted during the exam: writing utensils, e.g. a soft pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser and a drink. All other items will be locked away during the exam.
3. Payment and exam cancellation
After registering for the exam, exam participants will receive an invoice from us. This should be paid by the due date. Timely payment of the exam fee is a prerequisite for participation in the exam. The payment date listed on the invoice is binding.
This registration is binding and cannot be cancelled. If you wish to cancel your registration, you must do so at least 16 days before the exam date. Cancellations must be made in writing. The date of receipt of the notification by Swiss Language Academy is considered the effective date. Verbal cancellations will not be accepted. Failure to pay the invoice or failure to appear for the exam does not constitute cancellation.
If you cancel after the cancellation deadline or don't show up for the exam, you'll be charged 100% of the exam fee. If a doctor's note is provided in the case of serious illness, the costs of participating in the exam may be refunded. In this case, SLA Basel charges a processing fee of CHF 80 for A1 – A2, CHF 120 for B1 – B2 and CHF 180 for C1.
In the event of non-attendance, examination participants will not receive a refund.
4. Postponement of dates and registrations after the cancellation deadline
Appointments can only be rescheduled until the cancellation deadline. Please note the deadlines on our website.
The Swiss Language Academy examination centre reserves the right to postpone telc examinations with a low number of participants.
Registrations after the cancellation deadline cannot be cancelled.

We accept no liability for any damage incurred during any of the exams we organise. You are therefore responsible for ensuring that you have adequate insurance cover. We accept no liability for theft or loss of property on the premises of Swiss Language Academy. Parents are liable for their children.
