Personal learning activities for fast language learning
It is everyone's dream to be able to learn a foreign language very quickly. We know that this does not work for everyone. Otherwise, half the world would have very good English skills. For fluent English, we need enough money, a good language school with perfect English teachers, interest, language aptitude and, of course, time.
There are people who have enough money, attend the best language courses, but are nevertheless dissatisfied with their learning time. Such people forget that when learning languages, they also have to work on themselves. For better learning, we recommend that these people plan personal learning activities.
Before making the plan, it is of course important to recognise yourself, your abilities and your goals. Therefore, ask yourself the following questions regularly: What is my weak point right now?, Which area would I like to strengthen now?, In which area do I need to acquire vocabulary?, Where am I making more mistakes?, What am I afraid of?
Have you answered these questions? If so, you can now develop simple learning activities to solve the identified problems. At the beginning, you might feel unsure. Keep trying and don't be afraid if you fail. What could these simple learning activities be? Here are a few ideas:
Simple learning activities alongside the language course
- Going into a shopping centre and trying to buy 101 different things, even if you haven't bought anything in the end.
- Listen to music while reading the lyrics and singing along out loud. Then sing without reading the lyrics.
- Create a database of phrases and vocabulary from a novel and check the list using a free flashcard app.
- Read an article in the target language every day and chat about it with friends or colleagues over lunch. This works much better if they don't know you're doing it as a language-learning activity.
- Keep a diary in the target language. One or two sentences per day.
